Quality Control

At Purcell International, quality control is our top priority.

Whether purchasing in North America or overseas, we work with plants that have third party audits in place for HACCP and GMP, typically from BRC, Bureau Veritas, EFSIS, Intertek, SGS, TUV Nord, AIB International, Cooke & Thurber, SQF International, or other internationally accredited inspection services.

Import product is subject to much more stringent inspection than domestic. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S.Department Of.Agriculture (USDA) do foreign plant inspections, require specific product processing registrations on file and do sampling of inbound shipments prior to distribution. All of our packers have H.A.C.C.P. approved programs on file.

It is our procedure and policy to travel multiple times annually to visit and inspect the packers with whom we do business and those with whom potentially business exists. We look for compliance with current regulations, improvements from prior visits and changes in operations.

We inspect quality of raw materials, production procedures and quality control, review records, and perform organoleptic cuttings of finished goods.

We have copies of packer H.A.C.C.P. Plans and 3rd party audits on file that have been reviewed and approved.

We cut samples of inbound shipments to check compliance with buyer specifications.

We also do lot by lot inspections and even perform can codes pre-shipment approvals for various customers.

We retain qualified personnel in significant supplying countries to further monitor production and compliance with our requirements.

We understand the importance of food safety.
